UpTempo Boxing & Fitness

Boxing is FUN! It Produces healthy and well adjusted citizens. Healthy pupils & residents are more successful and productive!

At Up-Tempo Boxing & Fitness, we tie the issues of pupil underachievement & citizen disengagement with healthcare, directly to the limited opportunities for growth within the local area. We believe that traditional approaches to the socio-economic basis of current underachievement in education and the obesity/healthcare crisis are misdirected. These traditional efforts are what we call reactive--that is, they wait until after the pupil has become disengaged from the learning environment or until the resident has been stricken with illness or injury, and then pay for the necessary law enforcement or medical treatments. Our approach - which emphasises prevention, education, engagement and good health promotion - is much more proactive.

By helping pupils and residents to change their behavior patterns and choose more healthy lifestyles, Up-Tempo Boxing & Fitness also hopes to lower the local Borough’s law enforcement & health care expenditure, while raising citizen’s overall well being.

The levels of education for pre-NEET’S & the healthcare crisis, coupled with current demographic changes and the governments austerirty plans, threaten to not only exacerbate the crisis, but further erode citizen’s general well-being. These environmental factors coupled with the local competitive situation signal a favorable opportunity in this market.

We feel the time is right for Up-Tempo Boxing Fitness.

Up-Tempo Boxing and Fitness – ‘Outreach and Education Program’ will serve the Hammersmith and Fulham area, with the aim of re-engaging school pupils in danger of dropping out of education and with no real prospects for employment or training (NEET’S). By assisting local residents to engage with their community and become more productive, while refocusing the individual and significantly lowering overall costs to the community.

The UK Government’s policy paper ‘2010 to 2015 government policy: obesity and healthy eating’ states:

“In England, most people are overweight or obese. This includes 61.9% of adults and 28% of children aged between 2 and 15. People who are overweight have a higher risk of getting type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers. Excess weight can also make it more difficult for people to find and keep work, and it can affect self-esteem and mental health.

Health problems associated with being overweight or obese cost the NHS more than £5 billion every year.

By 2020, we want to see:

  • a downward trend in the level of excess weight in adults

  • a sustained downward trend in the level of excess weight in children”

Our overarching business perspective is based on two simple facts:

  1. Healthy pupils/residents are more successful and productive than chronically ill or obese citizens.

  2. It costs less to prevent truancy, bad grades, vandalism, injuries or illnesses than to treat the effects after they occur.
